Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti has reminded his challengers that he is “the original” who will retain his seat in the 2017 national election.
Mr Wingti said this to a large crowd, including several candidates contesting for Tambul Nebilyer Open, during the opening of three classrooms, two staff houses and ablution blocks at Kungund bottom-up primary school in Nebilyer last Thursday, 04/05/17.
“I held the governor seat for 20 years, and prime minister’s seat for three terms. That gives me great experience to again lead the province and the nation despite the negative criticisms people have leveled at me,” Mr Wingti said.
“Many people call me a liar, they say daddy boss is making empty promises, but each individual will decide for him or herself if I did nothing to develop Western Highlands Province.
“My life is a clear, simple life, therefore I don’t need to campaign. I did many things for this province and I will do more if I am re-elected.
Mr Wingti said that one of his main visions was to provide quality education for young people of Western Highlands, and this was evident through the 21 high schools he has built within three years of his current term.
“I gave you high schools. When I get back I will build you world-class university campuses and colleges and bring into the province the world’s best lecturers.
He said the building of the new Kapal House was in preparation to bring in these lecturers so they live in comfort to give quality education to our children.
He told the crowd that a lot of candidates who are contesting “who will give you money to buy your vote, but after you use that money remember me with your first vote”.
