From zero to hero, the rise of James Segeyaro an amazing story with lots of smiles but also with heartfelt sympathy.

Here's in brief about the dynamic PNG Kumuls hooker. James was born in Goroka, his father's hometown in 1990 and grew up mostly in his cradle.

At the age of 7 there was a problem that caused separation to his family so his mom (from East New Britian) took him and they went down to Cairns, Australia and left his dad Ifiyaso Segeyaro behind. His dad was also a rugby player and have represented PNG in the Kumuls squad.

When they left to Cairns, they were broke and that have seen them walking down the path of poverty and bankruptcy. James cannot afford to go to school and many times he felt embarrassing to be around his same age group.

Despite that harsh situation he deeply fell in love with footy and always find himself around with some like-minded friends.

He met a boy at the age of 8 and they were best buddies and eventually that was like a lifeline and the parents of the boy adopted James upon a permission from his biological mother. At the age of 11 those family became his own and that's where the odyssey of his life begun.

There are two sorrowful moments in his life and they were the deaths of his dad and his best friend. While he was with the Penrith Panthers, he received a call about the passing of his late dad.

Even though James didn't grow up with him but the emotional pain of losing him was so excruciating.

Rugby League now is his new lifestyle where he started in the NRL with the Cowboys, then Panthers, to Leeds in the Super League, then back to NRL with the Sharks and now with the Broncos.

All in all, the life he came from turned into a blessing and every step he took paid him the life he's currently living. The perilous days will never prolong when you place yourself with friends that can elevate you to your success.

James Segeyaro is a professional NRL player and a pride for the PNG. Thanks apo and cheers to your NRL games and also with the Kumuls.
