Qantas dumps Cairns-Port Moresby flight, leaving Air Niugini sole route operator has reported that as of 30 October 2016, Qantas will no longer fly the Cairns-Port Moresby route but shift to Brisbane-Port Moresby. The Brisbane-Port Moresby route will operate daily.

Qantas and Air Niugini have agreed to continue codesharing across all Australia-PNG routes.
The news is good news for Air Niugini as it will now be the only operator maintaining direct flights between Cairns and PNG. Air PNG no longer operates on this route.

The only concern some have raised on Qantas abandoning this route is whether fares for this route may rise.
We will have to wait and see what happens.

In the meantime, it can be confirmed on the Qantas website that it has no flights after 29 October 2016.
