Chinese Government Scholarships for Papua New Guinea Students

IN accordance with the MOU on Educational Cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. 
The Chinese Government will provide twenty-two full bachelor’s degree scholarships and three full master’s degree scholarships for PNG students to study in China starting from the academic year 2017/2018.

Qualification Requirements:

Applicants for postgraduate studies must be:
  1. PNG citizen in good health;
  2. Must be under the age of 35 with a Bachelor Degree or higher, and;
  3. Must complete 2 – 3 years’ work experience.
Applicants for graduate/undergraduate program must be:
  • PNG citizen in good health;
  • Be under the age of 25 with a secondary diploma or Grade Twelve (12) Higher School Certificate with high academic performance.
Requirements:
Applicants are required to submit x4 Certified Photocopies of relevant application materials listed below:

  • Higher School Certificate;
  • Academic Transcripts;
  • Detailed Study Plan;
  • Two Recommendation Letters;
  • A Character Reference Letter from a Parish Priest/Pastor/Church Elder;
  • X4 passport sized photos attached to each application;
  • Birth Certificate;
  • Police Clearance Form;
  • Curriculum Vitae, and;
  • Current/Valid contact information of Parents/Guardians (separate sheet).

Priority field of study:
The priority areas of study include: sciences, technology, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, liberal arts, and philosophy.

The applications should reach the office no later than Friday, 17th of February, 2017. All applicants must apply online and submit hard copies of application in quadrats. Failure to apply on-line will automatically disqualify your application. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Note that the Foreigner Physical Examination Form will only be completed by the short-listed candidates only.

Applicants are also advised that if you do not receive any response from DHERST or the PNG Chinese Embassy after the 31st of March, 2017 then please consider your application as being unsuccessful.
