PNG LNG project lock-down will continue until demands meet, says local leader

HELA prominent businessmen and landowner leader of Hides PDL 1 of the PNG LNG project, Larry Andagali said all Hides wellheads are now shut down and will continue to be shut down until landowners and people of Hela get their fair share of the PNG LNG Project.

He issued a media release saying Hides landowners will not re-open until Licensed Based Benefit Sharing Agreement (LBBSA) is reviewed and new agreement is negotiated and executed. He now calls on the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and senior government ministers to be in Hides Nogoli camp before Friday 12th August 2016 to start the negotiation process.

This time around we are now calling on ExxonMobil as a operator to come as a party on their community investment programs and sponsorship programs for Hides and Hela children. No meetings will be held in POM. Meantime he calls on the people of Hides to remain calm and protect our LNG project facilities without using any form of force and weapons, he said.

Police onsite in Hides confirm the entrance to the Hides gas conditioning plant at the PNG LNG project remained closed.

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill confirms he is away of the issue and will send a ministerial government team to address the issues with the disgruntled landowners in Hides, Hela Province.
